Social support plays a particularly important role, especially in the difficult situations that life brings us to. Since young parenthood is also a unique ordeal that brings many challenges, my thesis focused on the analysis of social support of parents in Slovenian young families. In the beginning, I have focused on the theoretical definition of the concept of social support and its forms, and then, to facilitate further discussion, I have defined the concept of young families in Slovenia. As the thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part, in the latter I obtained data through a combination of a survey and an interview. The main part of the thesis was therefore devoted to parents in young families and the social support they receive, as well as to the gap between the received and desired support in the selected young families. At the same time, I examined who or what constitutes the strongest source of each of the different forms of social support for parents in young families. Finally, I looked at the value of each form of social support for parents in young families.
