The use of information and communication technologies in the family environment - a case study
The final work analyzes how new information and communication technologies entered the family environment and what advantages and disadvantages they brought to individuals and society. The society in which we live and work today is highly digitized and informed. Technologies, which initially caused fear and euphoria in people, later made life much easier for all individuals with their advantages, but at the same time also brought many negative consequences, which are manifested in the family environment. With the help of some articles, I described the basic concepts related to new ICT and presented ICT domestication processes. With the help of a case study, I investigated the use of these technologies in an individual family environment, what are the consequences of this use, and how ICTs have changed the hierarchy of relationships in the family. I found that age and social status have a strong influence on ICT domestication processes and that people are well aware of the good and bad consequences that ICT has brought to the everyday family routine and changed the power relations between family members.
