The aim of the thesis is to quantify the migration from the Middle East to Europe and to assess the effects of migration on the population of each source and destination country. The theoretical background includes basic concepts, types of migrants, types of migration, causes of migration, theories of migration and migration routes to Europe. The Methodology chapter presents the sources of data and the methods used in the study as well as the definitions of the Middle East and Europe used in the study. Statistical analysis of the data allows us to make a rough estimate of the volumes of migrants between the countries of the Middle East and Europe. The largest share of the population emigrated from Syria (8 million or 35%), while the smallest share emigrated from Oman (0.1%). In Europe, the country that received the highest number of migrants is Germany (around 8 million). The country with the highest share of migrants is Sweden (13%).
