The paper presents Vinko Avguštin Škafar, a Capuchin priest, theologian and associate professor of pastoral theology, who is one of the most prominent contemporary ecumenical workers in Slovenia. His basic field is pastoral theology, he still lectures at the Catechetic
Pastoral School in Maribor. He also leads a few marriage groups and is a pastor in a parish
where the population is rapidly aging, and consequentely often deals with the problems
of aging. As a member of the Slovenian Ecumenical Council, he works at important ecumenical events and represents a link between the older and the younger generation of Slovenian
ecumenical workers. In his research work, he often delves into the field of history, especially
his native Prekmurje and the history of the Capuchin order and individual Capuchins.
