The aim of the study is an attempt to transfer the American construction method for agricultural and
commercial buildings to Slovenia. The building is in a hilly region in western Slovenia. In this work, a
post frame building with dimensions of 14 m × 20 m, consisting of ten interconnected frames, was
analysed using a 3D model. The analysis was carried out using the SAP2000 programme, applying
snow, wind, earthquake, self-weight and constant weight loads to the structure. Based on the results of
the analysis, the main elements of the structure were dimensioned and compared with a similar structure
in America. We found that for the area considered, where the weight of the snow is high, it is necessary
to change the dimensions of some of the most heavily loaded elements of the structure. We have shown
that this construction method is also suitable for locations in Slovenia, as it can fulfil the requirements
of the Eurocode.
