The thesis examines mechanical propreties of beech wood, with focus on bending strength, modulus of elasticity, density and moisture content of the wood. Using a three-point bending test, smaller samples of beech wood were analyzed in different directions (radial and tangential), allowing for a comparison of mechanical propreties. The aim of the test was to contribute to the development of using beech wood as a structural material in Slovenia, particularly due to the rapid growth of this tree species in recent years. However, for the use of beech wood in construction to flourish, a series of tests on representative samples must be conducted, which would enable the development of standards for grading beech wood into strength classes.
