Discharge regimes of Slovenian rivers: 1991-2020

Various researchers have examined discharge regimes of rivers in Slovenia in the past 75 years: four major studies made by Ilešič, Kolbezen, Hrvatin, and lastly Hrvatin and Frantar have analysed and classified the regimes, and clustered them into regime types. They have varied due to changes in discharge characteristics, mainly as a consequence of climate change. In the present paper, we used average monthly discharges between 1991-2020 to calculate the discharge coefficients and determine the modern typology of the regime types on 36 streams at 45 gauging stations. The final result was five types of contemporary discharge regimes which are a consequence of the landscapes' heterogenous climate- and geodiversity characteristics as well as human interventions.
