Abstract

Title:Bibliotherapy in Children, the Healing Power of Stories
Abstract:
Bibliotherapy can be most easily described as reading with a healing effect, or in other words, as the use of literature to help an individual gain insight into their personal problems, which has the potential for emotional healing and personal growth. This form of therapy can be used by anyone. The essence of this study, as well as the aim of this thesis is to deepen the understanding of literary bibliotherapy, especially by focusing on children as the target group, and to highlight its usefulness. It is important to know that bibliotherapy is not psychotherapy. However, it can be used as a component of it. The definitions and understandings of bibliotherapy vary among different experts. Bibliotherapy for children is a therapy that uses books or literature to help children with various emotional, social, or behavioral issues they may be experiencing. Due to the specifics of child psychology, this type of bibliotherapy differs from conventional literary bibliotherapy, as it must be adapted to their specific needs, abilities, and understanding.
