Abstract

Title:Stroke rehabilitation and the use of state of the art technology
Abstract:
Human progress is exponential, yet we still face health issues that have accompanied us for millennia. One such issue is stroke. Research shows that repetitive and intensive exercises can improve rehabilitation outcomes even years after a stroke, thereby compensating for missed opportunities for timely and quality care. In my master's thesis, I explore rehabilitation scenarios based on the use of advanced technologies, such as mixed reality and smart mirrors. The analytical part of the thesis reveals that stroke survivors are often demotivated, there is an insufficient number of rehabilitation activity repetitions, and family members and occupational therapists are under pressure. Through extensive ethnographic research and design approaches, I have developed concepts to address rehabilitation problems. The project phase resulted in two scenarios that utilise advanced technologies to create a suitably enriched environment. This environment increases patients' motivation to participate in rehabilitation and improves their quality of life. The master's thesis was developed in collaboration with members of the CVB Club Ljubljana, who made valuable contributions to the research and the development of scenarios.
