In an individual's life, knowledge of financial literacy is one of the most important competencies because we live in a world where we handle money daily. As part of the nine-year elementary school education, children acquire the most information in the field of financial literacy in the 5th grade, in the home economics subject, and the content is systematically upgraded later. Given the importance of financial literacy in today's times, we used research to obtain the opinions of pupils on selected aspects of financial literacy in nine-year elementary school. 5th- and 9th-grade pupils of elementary schools were included in the research. The sample included 84 pupils, 46 from the fifth grade and 38 from the ninth grade. A qualitative and quantitative research approach was used. Through the conducted research we wanted to find out what pupils’ knowledge is, what importance pupils attribute to financial literacy, how demanding they find the financial content discussed in the 5th grade in the home economics subject, and what role they attribute to school in the process of financial literacy. We found that pupils would like to acquire more knowledge in the field of financial literacy at school. In the process of financial literacy, they attach great importance to the role of schools, and they also consider financial literacy knowledge important. The contents of financial literacy, which were discussed in the fifth grade, in the subject household, do not seem too difficult to the pupils, which was also shown when solving the survey questionnaire – the pupils know the basic concepts very well.
