Abstract
Težavam sodobne graditve dostopnih stanovanj v magistrskem delu Izhod v sili pristopam s stališča samogradnje in prizidkarstva. Kolektivno zidavo stanovanj pripojim obstoječim stanovanjskim naseljem prestolnice, da bi lahko ocenila prostorsko zmogljivost prizidkarskega urbanizma: poskus polnjenja vrzeli med arhetipi socialistične zidave: stanovanski blok 50-ih in 60-ih, naselja samograditeljskih enodružinskih hiš 70-ih in naselja vrstnih hiš poznih 70-ih in 80-ih let prejšnjega stoletja. Projekti tipskih in dimenzijsko prilagodljivih gabaritov novih vrstnih hiš, blokovskega prizidka in dvoriščne zidanice oblikovne indice črpajo iz imaginarija enodružinske hiše s prizidki.

Title:Emergency exit : conceptual design for the systemic densification of Ljubljana's housing stock
Abstract:
In the master's thesis Emergency Exit, I address the challenges of modern affordable housing construction from the perspective of self-built homes and extensions. I incorporate collective housing construction into existing residential neighborhoods in the capital to evaluate the spatial efficiency of extension-based urbanism: an attempt to fill the gaps between the archetypes of socialist-era construction: apartment blocks from the 1950s and 1960s, self-built single-family home neighborhoods from the 1970s, and row house neighborhoods from the late 1970s and 1980s. Projects for typological and dimensionally adaptable new row houses, block extensions, and courtyard outbuildings draw design inspiration from the concept of single-family homes with extensions. Despite the collective nature of the construction, they retain some features of self-built architecture. The new row house is ideal for DIY enthusiasts, as aspiring builders can express their creativity across multiple stories and through the extension of the basic building structure. The block extension enhances the repertoire of the housing block by adding extensions of up to four apartments, which span an entire floor and utilize a four-way orientation. With government assistance, row house owners are building outbuildings that address student housing issues with limited resources. The typological plan for these three types is applied to the city of Ljubljana, where filling existing gaps could accommodate approximately 4,000 apartments without the need to amend the municipal spatial plan. However, on large green areas, space for residential construction should still be considered if the municipality and its residents undertake the task of quickly providing the 40,000 housing units that have been lacking in the broader settlement area for a decade.
