This thesis deals with ten schools from Celje and its surrounding area during the German occupation of the city in World War II, specifically from April 1941 to May 1945. For a clearer understanding of the context, I provided a brief history of each school. Generally, the thesis focuses on data collected on the period just before the war, during the national liberation struggle, and in the years following it, when Slovenians reestablished control over their schools. To better outline and present the conditions in Celje during the 1940s, I started the thesis with a historical overview of the German occupation and an account of the conditions and changes in the educational system following their arrival.
