Diplomsko delo prinaša pregled dosedanjih ugotovitev na področju stavčne intonacije v slovenščini in vpogled v nekatere kontrastivne raziskave, ki nakazujejo nadaljnje možnosti raziskovanja stavčne intonacije. Predstavi jo kot del pravorečne norme in poziva k novemu pravorečnemu priročniku. Ugotovitve povezuje s potekom učenja intonacije v osnovnošolskem procesu pri pouku jezika in književnosti ter pomenom, ki ga imajo pri tem učitelji kot modelni govorci. Ker je javno govorno nastopanje del njihovega vsakdana, je poznavanje intonacije ključno za doseganje želenih učinkov pri poučevanju in profesionalnem razvoju. V praktičnem delu preko perceptivnega testa preverja zavedanje in vrednotenje intonacije med osnovnošolci s pomočjo analiz v programu Praat ter teorijo slovenskega pravorečja.

The thesis presents the overwiev of findings that have been obtained in the field of sentence intonation in the Slovene language so far as well as an insight in some contrastive researches, which provide a basis for further research of the sentence intonation. The thesis presents it as part of the pronunciation norm and calls on a new pronunciation guide. The findings are connected to the process of sentence intionation learning and teaching in a primary education at the Slovene language and literature lessons and with the meaning it is given to teachers as model speakers. As public speaking is part of their daily work the knowledge of intonation is essential for reaching the results at teaching and the professional development. The empirical part proves through a perceptive test the awareness and the evaluation of intonation among primary school students by means of analysis in the Praat program as well as the theory of the Slovene pronunciation.
