The purpose of the master's thesis was to find out what attitudes primary and secondary school teachers have towards students with athlete status. We were interested in whether there are differences in attitudes between male and female teachers and between primary and secondary school teachers. We also determined the attitude of teachers towards students with the status of athletes. 276 teachers from all over Slovenia were included in the research. They were surveyed with a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire.
We analyzed the answers of the respondents and divided them into six factors, which we named: Negative behavioral characteristics of students with athlete status, Positive characteristics of students with athlete status, Positive side of athlete status, Extra work of teachers due to athlete status, Negative characteristics of athlete status, Athlete status allows for many additional customizations.
We found that teachers' attitudes differ between primary and secondary schools. The differences were shown in the factors 3-Positive side of the status of an athlete, 4-Additional work of teachers due to the status of an athlete and 5-The status of an athlete enables many additional adjustments. Differences in attitudes between male and female educators were not found, with all six factors the calculated p values were less than 0.05. The research showed that there are often negative attitudes in the relationship between the teacher and the student regarding the status of an athlete. Negative attitudes of teachers towards students with athlete status were obtained in factors 2-Positive characteristics of students with athlete status, 4-Teachers' extra work due to athlete status and 5-Negative characteristics of athlete status.
