In this thesis, we focused on the dimensioning of a double-shear screw connection of spruce beams, following the Eurocode 5 standard for the design of timber structures. The purpose of the thesis was to determine the load capacity of the selected screw connection and to verify it through experimentation. In the theoretical part, we calculated the characteristic and design lateral load capacities of the screws and determined the required number of screws to transfer the selected load of 25 kN. In the dimensioning process we considered specific parameters of the wood and screws, such as density, lateral strength, and correction factors. The experimental part involves the preparation of a sample made of spruce timber C22 and executing a load test using a Zwick Roell machine. The results showed that the calculated load capacity corresponds to the experimentally obtained data, confirming the adequacy of the selected screw connection for use in structures.
