The thesis addresses the important area of personal data protection in the school environment. In the modern digital world, where technology plays a crucial role in everyday life, safeguarding personal data is becoming increasingly critical, especially concerning children and youth who may not be able to defend themselves against potential abuses. Educational institutions bear the responsibility of processing large amounts of sensitive personal information, necessitating the establishment of effective security measures.
The topic of personal data protection in education is of paramount importance as it directly impacts the safety and well-being of children, ensuring that the educational process takes place in a secure environment.
The theoretical part focuses on understanding the legislative framework and security standards governing personal data protection in education. Key legal acts such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-2) were examined. The thesis includes a pivotal research component conducted through a questionnaire survey involving 72 education professionals. The research revealed that the majority of respondents are well informed about data protection legislation in education and possess high levels of digital literacy. However, adjustments to security practices are necessary as violations still occur.
Finally, the thesis presents findings and recommendations for improving personal data protection in education.
