The purpose of the master's thesis is to develop a web solution for reviewing archival records of a
cadastre, with a focus on the data of the Franciscean and reambulated cadastres. In addition to the
challenges of data preparation, including the positional adjustment of so-called island maps and
georeferencing, special attention is paid to the development of a web solution. In the master's thesis, on
the example of eight selected cadastral municipalities, the layout of a website for reviewing the graphic
and descriptive data of the Franciscan cadastre and the graphic data of the reambulated cadastre is
presented. In the introductory part, examples of existing websites where we can access certain data of
the Franciscean cadastre are given, and their shortcomings are also highlighted. A short introduction to
the Franciscean and reambulated cadastres as well as the web geographic information systems (GIS) is
followed by a presentation of the study area, and the data and software we used in the master's thesis.
Georeferencing of the original cadastral maps for the selected cadastral municipality, the cadastral
municipality of Sevnica (1379), was carried out in two ways and, based on the results, we selected the
more suitable one for our thesis. The selected method was then used to georeference the original
cadastral maps for other cadastral municipalities in the study area. Special attention is paid to the
description of web technologies and the process of establishing a web GIS, which also includes the
description of the establishment of a server and the creation of a website for reviewing the graphic and
descriptive data of the Franciscean cadastre and the graphic data of the reambulated cadastre. For the
thesis, we used open source, thus showing that we can set up a web-based GIS at a relatively low cost
for software.
