Graduation thesis is a systematic review of the literature in the field of fire resistance of facade systems. In the past, we have witnessed large-scale fires in Europe, in which the fire spread like lightning through the envelope of buildings. The most high-profile fires of this type are described, and examples of small-scale facade fires in Slovenia are also added. In the following, measures to ensure the fire safety of facade systems are presented and some standards for testing the fire resistance of facades used by European countries are described. The standards are very different from country to country, so Europe strives to introduce a single standard for facade testing. Greater emphasis is placed on the German and English standards, which make up the proposed European facade testing method. An alternative method is also shown, the purpose of which is to simplify testing and classification. An overview of the most common types of facades is presented and their reactions to fire and the measures necessary to prevent the spread of fire are described. For all described types of facades, facade details are drawn, where additional measures are shown.
