In my thesis, I elaborate on the intersection between fluid queer identity and
neurodivergence, isolating it from the spectrum of identity and placing it in the realm of
underwater, to some extent fantasy realms. I link the ideas into a complex theoretical whole
that manifests itself in objects. The interactive objects are fidget toys, gadgets of
neurodivergent humans, with patterns and textures of underwater creatures. The objects
playfully celebrate the complexity of queer neurodivergent experiences and are an attempt to
build authentic bonds through play and self-regulation.
