The actual state of heritage trees, especially their spatial location, is presented within municipality Logatec. Many exceptional trees, protected by the municipal decrees from the nineties, do not fulfil the criteria and its standards of assessment, or they simply do not exist anymore. The data about those significant trees is also quite poor and lacks information. The field work includes register of all the trees, which have a status of natural monuments of local significance, according to the standing rules. Measuring of the dimensions, (circumference of the trunk and tree's height), accurate determination of GPS coordinates and evaluation, using the latest criteria and their standards of The Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation, are the main sections on the inventorial lists. There are 48 trees/tree groups in the municipal register noted, but in the latest edition of The Register of Natural Values there are only 35 of them left. 18 trees as natural values are situated in urban setting and 17 of them in forests. The condition of the tree heritage, considering diversity, uniqueness and vitalityin our municipality, is quite comparable with other regions. The evaluation system is now transparent and objective enough to define exceptional trees as natural monuments. At the end, the proposition of some outstanding or interesting trees, which should deserve a status of valuable natural monuments, is given. To make the list richer, some unrecorded exceptional trees are also added, especially these in forest area.
