CNC machine is indispensable in the wood industry. It replaces and simplifies many machining processes, resulting in faster and more precise execution. In the master's thesis, mechanical properties and machining of wood with an emphasis on milling are first presented in the theoretical part. After this, G-code generation methods, CAM programs and shape recognition systems are presented. The experimental part describes the development of an optical system for recognizing shapes of wooden semi-finished products, which includes both hardware and software. The hardware part is implemented as an upgrade on the CNC machine. The software part recognizes the shape of the wooden semi-finished product from the picture and generates a G-code for processing on a CNC machine. The following is designed the entire machining operation. It is about the production of a unique product from solid wood, where the aim is to preserve the natural forms of wood. The shape recognition system has proven to be effective, as with an average absolute error of 0. 40 mm, it accurately performs machining operations and accelerates the production of wooden products of various shapes.
