Abstract
Prispevek raziskuje možne stike med liberalnimi političnimi pogledi pisatelja in tematiko ter motivacijo njegovega zadnega daljšega dela. Liberalizem se razume kot politično mišljenje v evropskem in slovenskem okviru, ki v zadnjih letih vzbuja pozornost pri zgodovinarjih, in to ne samo kot strankarska politika.

Abstract:
The article investigates possible connections between the writer's liberal political views and the topic and motivation for his last longer literary work. Liberalism is understood as political thought in the European and Slovene contexts, which has been drawing attention in the recent decade, and not just as partisan politics at that.
