The Laboratory field of the Biotechnical faculty houses a collection of 91 different cultivars of bearded irises. As a part of our thesis, we conducted an experiment to gather more information about different groups. We selected cultivars from three size categories: low, medium-high, and high bearded irises. Based on literature descriptions, we included in the experiment six different cultivars from each category, resulting in a total of 18 cultivars. The experiment was started in mid-March 2023, and weekly measurements and observations were conducted until the end of June. The results showed that the shortest cultivar was 'Mala Solfatara,' while the tallest was 'Rococo.' In terms of width, 'Mala Solfatara' was also the narrowest, whereas the tall cultivar 'Honky Tonk Blues' measured the widest. Additionally, we monitored the development of the flower stalk and measured its height. The shortest flower stalk was found in the medium-high cultivar 'Pink Bubbles,' while the tallest was in the high cultivar 'Rococo.' During the experiment, we also tracked the beginning and end of flowering for the selected cultivars. The low bearded iris cultivar 'Mala Pozlata' bloomed first, while the medium-height cultivar 'Erin stroll' and the tall cultivar 'Lady be good' bloomed last. Furtermore, we observed that some selected cultivars did not develop a flower stalks or bloom at all, while others had already begun to develop seeds.
