In Slovenia, stand maps are made or updated every 10 years with the update of forest management plans. In this thesis, it was for the entire area of the forest management unit Trnovo which belongs to the regional unit ZGS Tolmin, prepared and absolutely oriented 31 out of 37 stereo aerial photographs made by Cyclical aerial survey of Slovenia in 2010. In four selected sections, the map of forest stands was updated with digital stereoplotter. For absolute oriented stereopair images, we used in average of 10 control points, calculated deviations were within the limits that are recommended as acceptable in forest inventory. The old stand map was updated with ArcGIS and DAT/EM Summit Evolution software, which allows us to observe the stere model of aerial photographs. Especially in the pole wood, where the composition of stands over the past 10 years has not changed, we mainly just defined more accurate the border between stands, in old timber and stands in regeneration, we separated remaining older stands from young growth. Such maintenance of stand maps is the basis for field inventory of forest stands and silvicultural plans.
