Abstract

Title:Static and strength analysis of the load-bearing structure of a bouldering climbing wall
Abstract:
Sport climbing is becoming increasingly popular both in our country and around the world. As a result, the demand for artificial climbing walls, which are categorized into lead, speed, and bouldering walls, is growing. In the first part of this thesis, the conceptual design of a bouldering climbing wall is presented, along with the calculation of its supporting column, taking into account the SIST EN 12572-2 standard. The design focuses on the supporting column, as it is the key element of the entire structure, bearing the majority of the loads that occur during the use of the climbing wall. In the second part, an analytical calculation of the internal loads within the column is performed. Additionally, a strength analysis of the column and welded joints is conducted. Using the Ansys software, a computer simulation of the column was carried out. Finally, we compared the results and found that the climbing wall designed according to this concept would withstand all the expected loads.
