Abstract

Title:Geomorphological characteristics of cone karst In Slovenia
Abstract:
The aim of this master's thesis is to study the geomorphological features of cone karst in Slovenia using semi-automatic detection methods. Cone karst is a type of karst terrain found in both deep and shallow karst areas, characterized by cone hills and uvalas. The cone hills are round-shaped hills up to several tens of meters high, typically occurring in groups. Uvalas are depressions up to several hundred meters long in the lower relief areas between the cone hills. According to detection results, the largest contiguous area of cone karst extends from Banjšice, Trnovski gozd, Nanos, Hrušica, Postojna gmajna, Javorniki to Snežnik. The formation of cone hills is most likely influenced mainly by lithology – the stratification of rocks and their dip. Uvalas are often associated with tectonically fractured zones.
