The thesis first attempts to explain how local government in Slovenia developed and was established after the end of the Second World War. During this period, municipalities, which were until then the smallest administrative-territorial units at local level, were abolished. The first beginnings of the new local self-government were already present during the Second World War. The new local authorities and local committees were formed based on the already established foundations of the National Liberation Committees. In the following, the thesis presents the municipality of Vojnik itself and what happened there in the post-World War II period. The municipality of Vojnik was also granted local authority in 1945 at the end of the war. Then the local people's committee of Vojnik itself is presented and the part I spent the most time writing about. This is followed by an analysis of the minutes of the meetings, because throughout the thesis I wanted to show what the citizens of the town were struggling with and what decisions were made at the regular meetings of the committee, during the years of its operation from 1945 to 1952.
