Abstract
Protokol BitTorrent omogoča učinkovito uporabo pasovne širine in zmanjšuje obremenitev posameznih strežnikov.

Abstract:
In recent decades, file sharing and access have undergone significant development from physical media to modern protocols like BitTorrent. BitTorrent is a distribution communication protocol that enables the transfer of large files without the need for a central server. It is based on a P2P network where all users are equal and contribute to the network’s operation. The BitTorrent protocol allows for efficient use of bandwidth and reduces the load on individual servers. The work focuses on different types of P2P networks, including unstructured, structured and hybrid networks, and on query routing methods within these networks. Special attention is given to the BitTorrent protocol, its operation, advantages, and disadvantages. Concepts such as “choking,” “unchoking,” “optimistic unchoking,” and “tit for tat” are also presented, which enable efficient file sharing among users.
