The thesis considers the interactions between the cybernetic theory of systems and socialist political philosophy. It does so with the help of a historical realization of this relationship on the case of Synco, the project for cybernetic economic planning. The main themes used for a comparative analysis of the two philosophical approaches are stability, autonomy, systemic dynamics and development. The principal question of the thesis focuses on the reality of the relationship between socialism and cybernetics on the grounds of pure theory, where practice serves as a secondary source of our knowledge. The thesis concludes with the statement, that socialist theory and cybernetics are in fact related, but that the synthesis of both approaches has not yet been systematically completed.
