Abstract

Abstract:
This graduation thesis deals with the dangers that woody plants can cause in Ljubljana. The purpose of the thesis is to determine the endangered areas and groups of people and to discover the type of possible dangers that can be caused by woody plants. A register of planted and subspontaneously growing woody plants in green areas of 24 units of Ljubljana kindergartens has also been made. The results have shown that 96 % of kindergartens are potentially endangered. Within the scope of planted species the Privet (Ligustrum sp.) stands out and is present in 42 % of units, mostly as a species, planted in hedges. As far as subspontaneously growing woody plants are concerned, the most prominent is Common Ivy (Hedera helix), present in 33 % of units as a species that appears in hedge plants and tended shrubs. A list of potentially dangerous woody plants for planting in kindergartens has been geerated, by means of which the results of this graduation thesis also have a practical value.
