Abstract

Title:
The Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Work and Employment in Slovenia
Abstract:
In this master's thesis, the author investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the work and financial situation of individuals in Slovenia, focusing on their experiences and perceptions of the changes. The study is based on material gathered as part of the international research project »COVID-19: Vulnerability Assessment and Community Engagement« by the Sonar-Global international consortium, conducted between 2020 and 2022. The research included 214 interviews with residents of Ljubljana and Murska Sobota, with the author focusing on individuals' experiences related to work and employment during the pandemic. The thesis addresses the impact of the pandemic on rising unemployment, precarisation and the adaptation of work. It also analyses the government measures aimed at mitigating the effects of the pandemic, which were often perceived as insufficient or unfair. The findings show that work experiences during the pandemic varied significantly depending on the nature of work, leading to different challenges and adaptation strategies.
