Abstract

Title:Computer simulation of sheet metal forming
Abstract:
Design, development, and production of tools for mass production is the final phase of developing a new product. This phase links the requirements and innovations of development with the productivity demands of manufacturing. In the inquiry phase, the client sets the requirements and milestones that the company must meet within a specified timeframe. The feasibility study, conducted by the company, is a crucial phase that defines and verifies the concept of technological implementation presented in the proposal. The thesis focuses on the feasibility study in the form of an analysis of the most critical forming operation in progressive tooling. To verify the feasibility of the forming operation, computer simulation using the finite element method is employed. The simulation results, which illustrate the mechanical states during and after forming, process feasibility, and critical points on the product, are presented. To ensure the credibility of the computer simulations, the numerical model considers key influences of the real forming process and compares the results with simulations at different mesh densities.
