Titanium dioxide is a versatile material with wide-ranging applications in industry and everyday life. Its use in transparent self-cleaning thin films is particularly intriguing. My work focuses on synthesizing, depositing, and characterizing transparent self-cleaning thin films. My goal was to create a transparent film with optimal photocatalytic properties and high hydrophilicity. I deposited the film on glass, silicon and plastic. I evaluated the quality of the deposited films by measuring the water contact angle, imaging the surface using scanning electron microscope and recording the IR spectrum.
In my work, I have found that the properties of thin films are dependent on the deposition technique and the material on which the film is deposited.
