PolyHIPE materials are highly porous polymers of various shapes, synthesized from HIPE
emulsions. A distinctive feature of these emulsions is the high content of the internal phase,
which is at least 74%. This gives the polymer various advantages, favorable properties and
possibilities for modification, leading to applications in many fields, such as tissue engineering,
separation techniques and many special applications.
The thesis aimed to successfully synthesize polyHIPE samples with different porosities,
namely 75, 80, 85, and 90%. The prepared samples were then checked on the HPLC system
for homogeneity of the structure and pressure drop, to determine their permeability.
The selected synthesis of polyHIPE samples was successful, relatively simple and
reproducible. The results obtained showed a linear relationship between porosity and
permeability.
