The diploma presents rest and sleep in public and Montessori kindergartens and a comparison between them. It consists of theoretical and empirical work. The theoretical part presents rest and sleep and their importance for the child's physical and psychophysical development. Then, the Curriculum and pedagogical concept of Maria Montessori, and rest and sleep in public and Montessori kindergartens are presented. Additionally, their process, the space intended for rest and sleep in the kindergarten and different ways of calming and relaxing children are described in more detail. In the empirical work, with the help of interviews of teachers of public and Montessori kindergartens, the differences that occur in rest and sleep in the aforementioned kindergartens are identified. The differences in the process, the space intended for rest and sleep, and the use of calming and relaxing activities are presented. The diploma is concluded by comparing the differences that occur during rest and sleep in public and Montessori kindergartens.
