Present circumstances, both linguistic and non linguistic, lead us to focus on questions of standard contemporary spoken Slovene. Two themes are discussed. The first shows the development of the standard pronunciation norm from the developmnetal and comparative perspective. The second considers which factors that influence standard spoken Slovene are constant and which variable.
