The first part of the paper offers examples of a perfect co-operation between Slovene linguistics and Slovene literary folkloristics. The most prominent representatives of both parties are the following pairs: Jan Baudouin de Courtenay and Gašper Križnik, Karel Štrekelj and Števan Kühar, Fran Ramovš and Josip Šašel. The main part is dedicated to the collection of books Glasovi (Voices), which started to appear in 1988. So far, twenty-seven books have been published from individual Slovene regions. The collection comprises 8157 folkloristic and memorial tales. The question of conversion is still open – i.e. the transfer of live speech into a writing medium. Six different models have been shaped in response to this problem: 1. searching for a suitable expert solution from the point of view of the speaker/bearer of literary folkloristics; 2. searching for a suitable solution from the point of view of the speaker/bearer and receiver; 3. searching for the most suitable solutions from the point of view of the receiver; 4. dialect individualisation; 5. dialect stylisation; 6. perseverance of the subject matter but with a strong author’s touch. Finally, we deal with explicitly interdisciplinary study themes: the text and question of syntax.
