Abstract

Title:Dangers affecting the community health nurses : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Community health nursing is a form of healthcare services that includes also proffesional care for patients who need long-term or complex care in their home environment. Nurses in community health care are excluded from the controlled hospital environment and are alone in a very complex and unpredictable environment, so it is important to know the dangers they are exposed to and to be able to act in different situations. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the dangers that nurses in community health nursing care are exposed to at their work. Methods: A descriptive method was used. We searched the CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, ScienceDirect and dLib databases for literature using key words related to the risks of nurses in community health nursing. The included literature covers 17 units published between 2013 and 2023. Results: Nurses work in direct contact with patients and their relatives at home, so they are most exposed to physical, psychological and sexual violence within the healthcare team. Additional risk factors are represented by the complex work environment. Hazards for community health nurses include the risk of infection, occupational injury, exposure to hazardous environments, and potential misunderstandings with patients or relatives. Discussion and conclusion: The working environment and the workplace of community health nurses is constantly changing and thus creates different working conditions that expose community health nurses to various dangers that need to be monitored and adapted to.
