In the presented work the structure and growth of European Black pine stands on steep, dolomited slopes exposed to the sun were analysed. The research was carried out in Zasavje. Eight research plots measuring 30 * 30 m were put down in the mature stands. On five plots nine of the thickest European Black pine trees were selected and cut for stem analysis, while on the other three plots nine of the thickiest pines were cored for age analysis and their height was measured. elatively high growing stock of analysed stands were established, reaching from 146,6m3/ha up to 618,8m3/ha. Assortment strucure is favourable considering the extremity of sites, as well. Height growth declines after the age of 40-50 years. On the other hand, the diameter growth persists high regardless of age. The range of established site productivities is wide, the values are between 2,7 and 11,6 m3ha-1year-1. When wood skidding is done by tractor the stumpage value is usually positive, while in the case of cable skidding only half of the stands show positive result.
