The time we live in is a time of high expectations, which requires from parents to submit to all the child's needs, which are attributed to him for the benefit of his development. The pressures and expectations of society have been changing from generation to generation according to the dominant ideology and the interests of the ruling institutions. In the research, where I used the qualitative interview method, I compared the influence of society and various sources of information on the parenting of two generations, the mothers of today's young parents and today's young mothers from a rural environment, and concluded that a peculiar influence is always present, but the sources of influence differ significantly, as well as the awareness of these influences. Despite the ideological norm of motherhood, the influences of the dominant ideology are unconscious and at the same time internalized. The importance of informal sources of support turned out to be one of the most important in both generations, in which parents dominate, especially mothers and also partners and friends. In recent decades, due to the development of technology, the sources of information for today's parents have been transferred to the internet, which has become the main source of information about parenting for today's young parents.
