The purpose of the thesis is to present non-governmental organizations in the field of human trafficking, in a simple and understandable way accessible to the reader, to highlight the key causes in the forms of human trafficking phenomena. The purpose of the thesis is to bring the reader closer to the issue of human trafficking throughout the world, both domestically and internationally.
The issue of human trafficking is presented, as it threatens the dignity, freedom and fundamental rights of individuals, especially poor and socially excluded people. Non-governmental organizations play a vitally important role in the fight against human trafficking. They offer support and assistance to victims of human trafficking, in terms of advocacy and legal advice and psychosocial assistance. They also raise public awareness of this issue and conduct educational workshops for all generations, but especially for the youth. Together in the fight against human trafficking, they also cooperate with government organizations in identifying and solving this problem.
It was found that governmental and non-governmental organizations in Slovenia do not provide enough to protect human trafficking. Human trafficking can take many forms, depending on the purpose of the exploitation. We know about general and labor exploitation, trafficking in human organs, forced marriage, but of all these forms, prostitution is the most common form of human trafficking in Slovenia.
It is important that every individual reports any suspicion of human trafficking, and that the competent authorities and non-governmental organizations treat all reports fairly and with all care. If we find ourselves in a situation where help is important, it is extremely important to contact the competent institutions immediately.
