Abstract

Title:The impact of physical activity in menopause : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Menopause marks the end of a woman's menstrual cycle. The transition to menopause is a physiological process that begins in women with a gradual decline in ovarian reproductive function. This process lasts for several years and ends with the cessation of menstruation. There are various options available for managing menopause, including lifestyle adjustments, talk therapy, nutritional supplements, and prescription medications, such as hormone replacement therapy. Physical activity has been evaluated as an alternative option for alleviating menopausal symptoms. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma thesis is to describe menopause and investigate the impact of physical activity on women in menopause. Methods: The descriptive method of work with a review and analysis of scientific and professional literature was used in the diploma thesis. The literature search was conducted in the databases PubMed/Medline, Google Scholar, CINAHL, COBBIS and DiKUL in the period from January 2024 to April 2024. Results: In the final analysis, 14 units of literature were included. Physical activity represents an effective non-pharmacological alternative for alleviating some of the symptoms of menopause. In addition, it reduces risk factors for cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis, and strengthens bone mineral density. Discussion and conclusion: Regular physical activity has many benefits for the body, so it is crucial for women of all ages, especially those in menopause, to be active every day. Physical activity not only alleviates menopausal symptoms but also improves overall health and well-being and contributes to a higher quality of life at all stages of life.
