The aim of the thesis was to prepare bionanocomposite from nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) and polylactic acid (PLA). We have focused on studying the impact of the additive on the mechanical properties of the NFC bionanocomposite. Due to the morphology of the NFC we expected better mechanical properties of the composite according to the PLA. We have determined the optimal amount of the added NFC to the PLA in order to obtain better mechanical properties. Furthermore, we examine the impact of acetylated NFC to the mechanical properties. We have found that with the addition of 2,5 % of acetylated NFC (ANFC) the best mechanical properties of the prepared bionanocomposite were achieved. With the addition of ANFC to the polymer PLA we obtained bionanocomposite films with minimal reduction in transparency.
