The application of e-commerce in all areas of business, including the supply chain, is growing. This thesis analyzes the supply process and its IT support in the wood industry and develops a proposal for improving the supply process. Based on deficiencies in the existing supply process caused by high costs, possible errors, poor responsiveness, production stoppages, and so on, this thesis recommends upgrading the UPRO 5 information system and introducing a B2B web portal to replace telephone orders and document exchange via e-mail. Introducing this new interface with suppliers would take place gradually. A cost-benefit analysis indicates that introducing the suggested improvements to the supply process would offer benefits that greatly outweigh the anticipated costs.
