Mobile phone cases have a protective function, but to provide an attractive appearance is their equally important role. In order to determine what level of protection can provide the mobile phone cases, we determined the adhesion of the two-component polyurethane coating system, its resistance to scratching, cold liquids, resistance to impact. The tests were performed on the samples made of oak and beech wood, finished with a two-component waterborne polyurethane coating. The comparison of the results was carried out, and we estimated the values, that were believed to be sufficient when applied to wooden mobile phone cases. The results of our measurements were compared with the estimated required values. The beech samples exhibited somewhat better properties than the oak wood ones, most likely due to the anatomical characteristics of the oak wood, which was used for sample preparation (quite broad ring width). We believe that surface-treated beech and oak proved satisfactory properties, so the decision of buying a wooden cover for the phone can be made without any hesitations. We made a proposal for preparation of a wooden cover for the phone in combination with 3D printed rubber. An overview of properties of covers on the market, made of the most common materials was prepared, and comparison with wooden mobile phone cases was carried out. We recommend wooden mobile phone case to all who like the appearance of wood.
