In the timber industry, the term "machine handling automatization" is not often encountered. In Slovenia, small businesses prevail in which machine handling is not automatized, but is carried out by the employees. The purpose of this diploma thesis is to depict the CNC machine handling automatization with an 6-axle industrial robot KUKA that was provided for us by the laboratory for mechanical wood processing technologies. An electric circuit was devised for connecting the industrial robot and the CNC machine. The circuit was then connected to the industrial robot software and to the Mach3 software controlled by the CNC machine. A mechanical gripper, clamped to the industrial robot, was used to attach the workpiece. A demonstration of the machine handling automatization with an industrial robot proved that in the timber industry, the use of industrial robots should be considered because it can result in faster and more effective processes which help to make a business more competitive.
