The master's thesis examines ten contemporary Slovenian comedies, written between 2010 and 2024. Four comedies by Vinko Möderndorfer and one comedy each by Evald Flisar, Vedrana Grisogono Nemeš, Jure Karas, Iza Strehar, Rok Vilčnik (rokgre) and Matjaž Zupančič are presented. In the theoretical part of the master's thesis, comedy is presented, its structure, the function of laughter, three types of comedy, the importance of staging for comedy, topics in modern Slovenian drama, features of modern Slovenian comedy and statistics of stagings of Slovenian comedies and comedies by foreign authors on the stages of Slovenian theaters. In the empirical part of the master's thesis, a detailed analysis of ten selected dramatic texts is given, and this focuses especially on the topics tackled by Slovenian comedies. The analysis takes into account the dramatic structure, characters, dramatic space and time, dramatic language and types of comedy. All the selected dramatic texts deal with current social issues, such as environmental changes, current political events, moral and ethical values and interpersonal relationships.
