Abstract

Abstract:
There are several factors influencing the overgrowing of forest road cross-section clearance. For the purpose of this graduation thesis, 132 forestroad cross-sections have been reviewed and measured. In addition to this, the overgrowing of cross-section clearance and some other characteristics of cross-sections have been evaluated. These estimates were made on three previously measured forest road sections, where the measurementswere made 13 years ago. We have added the 4th - the youngest one. It has been established that the overgrowing of forest road cross-section clearance at the examined sections does not increase with the road's existence, since several unexpected works were performed on certain road sections. The construction of forest road itself reduces the standćs growth area. However, reduction is lower than road section share of area in total forest area, since peripheral trees with their canopies stretch into the area above the road. The last thirteen years have seen changes in the parameters offorest road cross-sections, since the width of clearance belt and the width of road area, alongside with junctions, have been widened at some forest road sections.
