For the projects “Mesto nagovarja meščane” and “Tekstilni vzorci v urbani komunikaciji”, we needed a programmable solution to control light projectors that were part of a room installation at the cultural event “Vurnik Days 2023” in Radovljica. Since we could not find a suitable existing application in the short time available to us, we developed our own C++ application to control devices via DMX512 protocol. We used the application for the project and then further improved it by adding missing features and fixing observed bugs. This makes it suitable for use in other projects in the future. After a closer examination of the existing software on the market and based on the project results, it became apparent that developing our own application was a better and safer execution option than searching in many programming solutions for lighting control at large public events.
