The purpose of this master’s thesis was to study and revive the Slovenian opera singer from the first half of the 20th century Ladko Korošec, who achieved enviable fame and success both in Slovenia and in the former Yugoslavia and elsewhere around the world. Although he came from a small mining town of Zagorje ob Savi, known for its hardworking, persistent and humble people, soon after entering the Ljubljana Opera, he opened a window into a completely new world.
A bass player Ladko Korošec had already been a singing legend, a musical authority and a true folk artist. For more than twenty-five years, the was a pillar of the Ljubljana Opera, which he remained faithful despite enticing offers from abroad. His excellent pronunciation also became widely known, as he came to the opera from SNG Drama, Ljubljana. He was a great actor and singer at the same time. He was one of the few opera artists who had all the qualities: a wonderful voice, musicality, a sense of play, excellent diction and a complete dedication to the work.
